24 Weeks

Whew! It has been HOT this week, over a 100 most of the week. We spent a good part of our time at home camped out in the bedroom with the dogs because our little portable air conditioner couldn't keep up enough to cool the living room. Last night was the first night that the house actually cooled off enough that I attempted to bring the AC out in the living room and in comparision to how it has been all week, we are pretty comfortable today.

Last night Luke and I broke down and went to Lowe's to get some temporary fencing for our lawn. It has been a struggle to keep Levi from digging holes in our new yard, not to mention his potty spots. So, we decided no more lawn access for the dogs until we can get it a little more established. Luke built the fence and it actually looks pretty decent. Then we got some soil and some patch to fix all the bare spots. Hopefully, shortly our yard will be looking just as good as it did last fall when we put it in.

Here is a picture of the fencing (our camera is malfunctioning so the it might be a little blurry). We put it around 3 sides of our patio and then out to the regular fence like this. The weird stuff on the ground is grass patch. It will look a whole lot better once it grows in and things green up a little bit.

Since it cooled down to 90 today I got out in the yard to do a little weeding project that I have been meaning to do for a while. Too bad I didn't take a before picture, because I think an after picture just wouldn't do justice to how much work it actually was. I also replace our dying flowers out front. Hopefully these will get us into the fall with a little color.

Next weekend I think I am going to rent a small dumpster from Aloha Garbage so that we can clean out our garage. We need to make some space so that I can move stuff out of the baby's room and get the nursery going.

Well, a couple things checked off my to-do list. It feels nice to be able to do some stuff around our house instead of running around all over the place.

I work tomorrow, but then on Sunday we are going to our friend's Ann and Andrew's wedding up at Timberline lodge. It should be fun, they have an after reception at their house that we may make an appearance at. We haven't decided yet because apparently there are like 100 people invited, and I am a little concerned about how that is going to work. Haha.

A quick picture of us from last weekend at Clayton and Jennifer Lindsay's wedding. Clayton is Debbie's cousin Bobby's son. (Once again, for some reason our camera is washing everything out, grrrr)

Lastly a quick note about today's doctor's visit: I am a dummy and thought that this was my 9am appointment where they do the gestational diabetes screening. I got all the way to the doctor's office and looked in my planner for something else, and what do I see? Today's appointment was at 2pm and was just a regular appointment. Pooh. So, I went back later. Everything is right on schedule. Dr. Thum said the little bit of discomfort I have been having is completely normal at this stage.

Well, that's about it for this week!

23 Weeks

A little late this week, but this picture was taken a couple nights ago.

We celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary this week. I had to work on Tuesday, so we are going to go out to dinner tonight at Claim Jumper. Yum, yum! Thanks Debbie!

It has been very hot this week, and the air conditioning at work is not the best. So, no more suit jackets for me until the weather gets cooler again. It is supposed to keep getting hotter, with 100s on Sunday and Monday. Ick.

Well, we are in for another busy weekend. This summer has probably been the busiest summer we have ever had together.

22 Weeks

Nothing too exciting this week. She has been a wild child the past few days. Its funny to feel her wiggling around in there.

My parents are coming out tomorrow to check out our leaky shower. Then on Friday we have some friends coming over for BBQ. Otherwise, just trying to take it easy. I am hopefully going to get some time soon here to go hit up Joann's Fabrics to see if I can find anything that I like for the nursery.

Goodnight!

Another busy weekend!

So on Friday, Debbie and I drove out to IKEA. We were able to find a few pieces for the nursery. I am still trying to decide on a crib, but I love the stuff that I got. Now, I need to work on what I am going to do for bedding and go from there on colors. I am doing white furniture with bright colors. Unfortunately, it is nearly impossible to find bright nursery bedding. Pretty much everything is pastels. UGH. I think I may get ambitious and sew the things that I want. I saw at IKEA that they have crib sized duvets and then I can just sew my own cover. Anyhow, I am going to have to head back to IKEA when I am ready for decor items, they had soo much cute stuff.

Saturday, Luke and I left the dogs with Debbie and Doug so that we could make an impromtu trip to Seattle. We spent the afternoon wandering around Pike Place Market and the Seattle Waterfront. It was sweltering hot, but it was nice to get out of Portland to a different city. After that we went back down to Tukwila and stopped to have dinner at Rain Forest Cafe before heading home.

It was fun to have a relatively stress free day. I have a feeling we will be trying to make at least a couple more day trips this summer. Maybe next time will be the beach!

My days off this week are kind of weird, but I am hoping to relax and try to get a bit of cleaning done. Possibly try to get some of the nursery furniture set up.

Tomorrow will be 22 weeks!

21 Weeks

This week has been interesting, to say the least. Strangers are starting to ask me when I am due. So, I know that I must be showing more, even though comparing to last week I think I pretty much look the same.

It's funny because I have always heard pregnant girls says that first its annoying because you aren't really showing and people just think you are fat rather than pregnant. Then you start showing and for some reason people think you are going to pop tomorrow and proceed to tell you how huge you are for the rest of your pregnancy. Apparently people have no shame expressing this.

The first one was a guy on Monday, so I will let it slide. He asked if I was having my baby soon. I told him, "no, I am due in November." He laughed and just asked a few questions about if it was our first and so on.

Then later that evening this girl asks pretty much the same question. I tell her I am due in November. So, she looks really surprised and says, "so, are you just really big for how far along you are?" I say, "umm, I think it is fairly normal, I AM more than half way done." I just had to laugh, because I am going to get waaaaay bigger and I think it is hilarious that people have absolutely no shame expressing their opinions about your size.

I guess I get to look forward to lots of unsolicited advice, comments, and belly rubs from complete strangers from here on out. It must be some sort of pregnancy right of passage. Haha.

4th of July weekend!

This weekend was crazy busy and I probably over extended myself, but I am feeling good still. So, why not?

On Friday night we went to our friend's, Annie and Andrew, BBQ. They had a Luau theme, and Annie made some amazing food. I will definitely have to get some of the recipes. We got stuck there pretty late because we were parked in, but we had fun.

Then on Saturday we got up early to head out to Debbie and Doug's to start smoking ribs and pork shoulder for pulled pork sandwiches. We spent the day lounging around in the sun, and it was good to see Taylor and Luke's grandparents. The dog's completely wore themselves out playing, Harvey even spent some time in the pool.

After we all ate and it got dark enough we let off fireworks and watched the big ones that other people had in the neighborhood. I think we got home around midnight.

Then, I was back to work Sunday morning. Poo. I am still tired, so I learned my lesson and will definitely be getting more sleep next time, but all in all it was a fun weekend.

20 Weeks

I am a few days late posting this one, but these pictures were taken Tuesday night. Its unbelievable that we are halfway done!

I had a doctor's appointment last Friday. It was with the nurse practitioner. She said everything looked great on the ultrasound and I wouldn't need a repeat. She gave me some homework:

1. If we want to take any classes, we should sign up now cause they fill up fast.

2. Find a pediatrician and schedule a "meet and greet" appointment.

3. Pre-register for the hospital.

It's crazy to think that we are far along enough to start thinking about these things.

At the appointment the nurse was trying to listen to the heartbeat, but she she kept moving around. It was funny cause I thought the movements were big enough that you could probably see them. The nurse laughed and said it that at this stage they are all over the place. So, that night I went home and sure enough when I was laying down I could see her move around. Luke saw it too. I think its finally starting to hit home that there is really something growing in there.

Well, have a good 4th of July!
